From 15 September 2006, Singapore Airlines’ customers will be able to travel to more destinations in South Africa thanks to a new codeshare agreement signed by Singapore Airlines and South African Airways (SAA).

Customers of Singapore Airlines can now fly on SAA’s flights between Johannesburg and the following destinations: Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and East London.

Customers of SAA in turn can fly on Singapore Airlines’ non-stop, daily flights between Singapore and Johannesburg, and once-a-week (Wednesday) on the service between Singapore and Cape Town.

“This new codeshare agreement represents our growing relationship with SAA, one of our Star Alliance partners, and our on-going efforts to maximise the opportunities offered by our combined network to the benefit of our customers. I am confident that the agreement between the two airlines will stimulate demand for travel on South African Airways and Singapore Airlines to our countries and beyond,” said Mr Huang Cheng Eng, Singapore Airlines’ Executive Vice President, Marketing and the Regions.

SAA’s General Manager Business Development Ms. Nomfanelo Magwentshu said the codeshare agreement would present customers of both airlines with even more comprehensive travel options:

“This new partnership will maximise the huge benefits to the customers of Star Alliance carriers, in this instance providing them with a direct link from South Africa to Singapore. This is closely aligned to our ideals of offering more routes to customers and expanding our international offering.”
