On the Beach, the UK’s leading online travel agency, say that Turkey’s succession of wins at the 2011 World Travel Awards proves Turkey’s credentials as one of Europe’s best tourist destinations.
Turkey picked up 15 awards overall, with one of the biggest wins of the night going to Oludeniz, which was named Europe’s Leading Beach Destination. Another big win was for the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office which took Europe’s Leading Tourist Board. On the Beach say these wins prove that Turkey is not just a great beach destination, but also one dedicated to providing a fantastic holiday experience for all its visitors.

On top of these wins, Turkey walked away with a further 13 awards on the night: more than any other country. Many of Turkey’s other awards went to the country’s luxury hotels, such as the Adam & Eve Hotels chain, for outstanding excellence in their field, while Istanbul was given the award for Europe’s Leading City Break Destination and Izmir won Europe’s Leading Cruise Destination.
