LAN Ecuador begins operations to the Galapagos

Starting next September, LAN Ecuador, an affiliate of LAN Airlines, will begin regular operations to the Galapagos Islands, offering a daily flight from Quito and Guayaquil.

“This is a big milestone that will allow us to continue to contribute to the development of tourism in Ecuador, by creating more connections to the country and providing excellent service, with the highest standards when it comes to punctuality, reliability and safety,” said Maximiliano Naranjo, General Manager, LAN Ecuador.

During its first year of operation in Ecuador’s domestic market, the Company has flown more than half a million passengers on domestic routes, which include the cities of Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca. LAN Ecuador celebrates seven years of operations in the country, from where it also provides international connections to the United States, Europe, Chile and Argentina.

The company has a team of 900 people who are dedicated to providing world-class quality service to its domestic passengers and cargo customers. At the same time, LAN Ecuador is a member of the oneworld alliance, which brings together the best airline companies in the world to offer their customers the alliance’s full range of benefits. Passengers that fly LAN Airlines and its affiliates may accrue and redeem frequent flyer mileage awards on any of the oneworld alliance airlines, as well as enjoy access to 550 airport VIP lounges worldwide.

On the new Galapagos route, the company will operate aircraft from the modern Airbus A320 family, which are part of its fleet and use state-of-the-art technology significantly decreasing emissions.

“We are reaffirming our commitment to Ecuador, and especially to our customers who have honored us with their preference. We will continue promoting Ecuador’s tourist attractions, contributing to its export growth and providing an excellent product, with special concern for the preservation of the environment. It is of great satisfaction for us to deliver a world-class service to the country, and we want Ecuadorians to feel proud of their airline,” added Mr. Naranjo.
