Jet Airway registers fifth consecutive month of strong growth

Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, today registered its fifth consecutive month of strong growth with the announcement of its results for February 2010, maintaining its leadership position in the Indian aviation industry.

Jet Airways continued to drive growth momentum even in a traditionally lean month, reporting a 31% growth in international passenger traffic for February 2010 as compared to the same period last year. Domestic passenger traffic in February 2010 also grew by 22% vis-a-vis the same period last year. The airline has been sustaining its seat factor for its international operations at over 80% for five consecutive months with the February 2010 figure standing at an impressive 82%, reflecting continued high demand for the airline’s award-winning international product.

JetLite, Jet Airways’ all-economy subsidiary, registered a 10.4% growth in passenger traffic on a seat factor of 80% in February 2010.

According to Mr. Nikos Kardassis, CEO, Jet Airways, “Jet Airways continues to consolidate its leadership position in the Indian aviation industry with five consecutive months of impressive growth. The changed economic scenario has seen a steady rise in air traffic growth, while the strategic and network initiatives the airline has been implementing over the last couple of quarters have enabled Jet Airways to continually better its performance, while meeting and exceeding the expectations of its guests with its award-winning services.”

The airline is set to sustain stronger growth with its strategic expansion program, introducing new routes in the international and domestic sectors.

In the international sector, the airline is launching a daily non-stop flight with a new state-of-the-art Airbus 330-200 aircraft from Mumbai to Johannesburg from April 14, 2010, as South Africa is home to a host of breath-taking opportunities and options in business, sports and tourism. The airline will also introduce a daily flight on the Thiruvananthapuram-Dammam sector, its third daily service to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia from India, effective March 28, 2010.

In the domestic sector, Jet Airways all-economy, no-frills Konnect service will introduce daily, direct services to Dehradun from New Delhi, effective March 28, 2010. In addition, JetLite, Jet Airways’ all-economy subsidiary, recently introduced a new flight on the Kolkata–Agartala-Kolkata sector aboard a Boeing 737-700 aircraft from February 8, 2010.
