Interpid Travel adds to its range of New Zealand trips ahead of country reopening

Also new to the range are Intrepid’s first Premium trips to New Zealand – higher end adventures without compromising on sustainability.

The trips showcase the natural wonders of New Zealand, with plenty of active options and trips away from the usual tourism trail. Also new to the range are Intrepid’s first Premium trips to New Zealand – higher end adventures without compromising on sustainability.

Forgotten World Adventure
This action-packed tour of northwestern New Zealand goes well beyond the tourist brochure. King Country in New Zealand’s North Island is a land of picturesque landscapes perfect for adrenaline-pumping activities. Travelers will ride on custom built rail carts along the ‘Forgotten World Railway’, through ten incredible hand-built brick tunnels: one of them nearly one mile in length. They’ll pass through dense native bushlands and past stunning hilly outcrops.  Other highlights include a fast-paced jet boat ride to the Mangapurua Landing, swapping the thrills for curious tales of the Valley of Abandoned Dreams on a guided hike to the Bridge to Nowhere and canoeing down the Whanganui River.

Bay of Islands Adventure
Travelers can experience the natural beauty of the Bay of Islands on this five-day trip starting in Auckland, from forests of ancient kauri trees and clear blue lakes to mystical waterfalls and caves filled with glow worms. Highlights include exploring the seaside town of Russell, New Zealand’s original capital, and discovering the Poor Knights Islands – a rugged series of islets with a history stretching back 11 million years – on boat cruise. Aside from a group of like-minded travelers, visitors might also come across fur seals, penguins, dolphins and whales.

Cycle Otago Rail Trail
This trip gives travelers the chance to cycle the spectacular Otago Central Rail Trail, the oldest rail trail in the country and voted ‘New Zealand’s Favorite Ride’ for the past two years.

Groups will ride along flat, traffic-free paths alongside some of the South Island’s most stunning scenery and through small gold-mining towns like Alexandra, Omakau, Wedderburn and Hyde. They’ll meander through the open plains with pristine rivers and enjoy some proper South Island hospitality at local taverns.

Premium New Zealand North Island
On this journey from Auckland to Wellington, travelers will sip local wine on Waiheke Island, explore the mythical world of Hobbiton, marvel at the geothermal delights of Rotorua, relax on the shores of Lake Taupo, explore the volcanic landscapes of Tongariro and sail across Wellington Harbor on a private catamaran.

Premium New Zealand South Island
Taking travelers from Christchurch to Queenstown via glaciers, wineries, lakes, and an overnight cruise on Milford Sound, this 10-day tour showcases the natural beauty and thriving food and wine scene in the South Island of New Zealand. Visitors will forage for fresh ingredients with a local chef in Otago, head out on a jetboat ride in Queenstown and come face to face with endangered species at a wildlife center on the West Coast, including New Zealand’s rarest kiwi.
