HKIA clinches three retail and marketing awards

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has recently been awarded the titles of “Airport Authority with the Most Supportive Approach to Travel-Retail” and “The Best Website Serving the Asia/Pacific Travelling Consumer” at the DFNI Asian Awards for Travel-Retail Excellence, reaffirming its commitment to providing retailers an excellent business platform with effective marketing support. The airport also won silver at The Effie 2001 Advertising Effectiveness Event.

Over the years, HKIA has been sparing no effort in providing comprehensive support to retailers, critically reviewing the retail complex to ensure business results and implementing innovative and timely marketing campaigns. The conspicuous result has attracted a wide spectrum of retail and dining brands, enhancing travellers’ experience at the airport.

The Airport Authority also announced the result for a previous tender notice for the dining licenses at Terminal 1’s East Hall catering outlets. Situated in the restricted area of Terminal 1, a high-traffic prime area among prominent international brands, four new restaurants and food court outlets will be introduced. Pizza Express, named by the readers of UFood magazine as the “Best Italian Restaurant 2009”, will open its first airport outlet in Asia Pacific region. To enjoy local canton cuisine, Tasty Congee & Noodles Wantun Shop, being awarded the “Best of Best Culinary Award – Gold with Distinction Award” by Hong Kong Tourism Board and “Bib Gourmands” in Michelin Guide Hong Kong and Macau Edition 2009 and 2010, will soon commence its first time operation in HKIA. I Love?? is another Michelin recommended restaurant, offering not only the best Hong Kong local cuisine but also an innovative mix of fusion dining experience. If you prefer other Asian cuisine, 360 Metro, a semi-served restaurant offering Korean and Japanese foods, may fit your choice of taste.

In addition to the new brands, HKIA has also maintained a good mix of dinning options like international travellers’ favourites Ajisen Ramen & Saboten, Cafe Deco and Popeye’s Chicken & Biscuits/Panoplis/Ben & Jerry’s, as well as local iconic brands like Cafe de Coral, the rejoining McDonald’s & McCafe and Pak Loh Chiu Chow Restaurant.

To meet travellers’ and customers’ needs and preferences, HKIA is mindful in keeping a wide span of retail brands. International fashion conglomerate, Zara, one of the most preferred shops that  passengers would like to see at HKIA[1], will soon open its biggest-ever airport flagship in the world with 1,000 square meters, providing a variety of fashionable merchandise at affordable price.
