Delta Air Lines passengers traveling between the United States and Taiwan will be able to codeshare on flights offered by Delta`s codeshare partner China Airlines, beginning May 1, 2004.

Delta initially will start placing its code on China Airlines flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu and New York (JFK) to Taipei, Taiwan. Effective June 22, 2004, Delta will begin codesharing on China Airlines flights between Seattle and Taipei. In the future, Delta will expand cooperation to include destinations beyond the Taiwan carrier`s hub.

China Airlines already places its code on Delta flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco to five U.S. destinations — Atlanta, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Salt Lake City, Honolulu (from Los Angeles and San Francisco) and Cincinnati. Reciprocal frequent flyer program cooperation began in 2002.

Last year, more than 1.4 million passengers traveled between the U.S. and Taiwan, up from the 1.3 million who traveled in 2002.
