The culmination of the month-long festival is the annual “ King of the Mountain” hill climb, in which participants will climb more than 10,700 feet over the course of a grueling, yet scenic 65-mile race for a chance to claim the coveted first place title. The route, which has become one of the longest natural cycling ascents in the world, passes through the beautiful Taroko Gorge in the Eastern Taiwan, an immense rocky chasm featuring dramatic landscapes and dotted with ancient temples and shrines.
For those looking for a more relaxed, long distance ride, from November 10-18, the Formosa 900 will take riders around the entire island on 9-day, 900-kilometer team ride. Stopping at a variety of scenic locations, the Formosa 900 allows riders the opportunity to appreciate Taiwan’s beautiful scenery, experience local hospitality, absorb the abundant local culture, and savor many regional delicacies.
In addition to the larger events, many smaller events and rides will take place throughout the festival that caters to every level of cyclist.
