Cairns plays host to the 20th Global Eco Asia-Pacific Tourism Conference

Premier event for ecotourism will be hosted this coming October in Cairns, Northern Queensland and look at approach and strategies on sustainable tourism development in Asia Pacific.

CAIRNS – Northern Queensland tropical city of Cairns will welcome the 20th Global Eco Asia-Pacific Tourism Conference on October 15 to 17. Tourism investment in accommodation, transport, attractions and tour operations is critical for the growth of tourism as a whole and particularly for ecotourism over the next ten years.

The Global Eco Asia-Pacific Tourism Conference is Ecotourism Australia’s annual premier conference. Global Eco brings together leading players from across the globe to examine best practice across sustainability, ecotourism, cultural and heritage tourism, tourism in protected areas and climate change response.

The Conference brings together a delegation that is made up of a broad range of sectors that play a direct and indirect role in delivering sustainable tourism and ecotourism, providing delegates with an excellent opportunity to examine and debate critical new research and policy, emerging issues and opportunities influencing the industry and its further development and sustainability. Delegates review current best practices and collectively take a forward perspective on the industry.

The Ecotourism Australia conference has established a very strong and credible reputation over the past nineteen years and each conference has dealt with contemporary issues and deliberately seeks to engage stakeholders in sustainability and ecotourism: operators; government; industry associations; the conservation sector; high tech sustainability product providers and services.

National and international keynote speakers will provide the latest insight in challenges and opportunities facing the industry with plenty of opportunities for delegates to participate in discussions.

Various Theme Stream Workshops enable delegates to further examine case studies and participate in more in-depth discussions on key conference topics thus gaining practical and tangible information to benefit their business and the industry as a whole.

Global Eco features an Indigenous Tourism Forum which is a specialised session focussing on outstanding case study examples of business development; successful employment and training initiatives; youth, culture and heritage development; and business investment for growth.

Global Eco also features the Asia-Pacific Forum. This forum is held during the plenary on each day of the conference and features national and international case studies addressing topics such as: importance of sustainable development; importance of Indigenous/Cultural tourism; quality control/certification and more. For the first time this year, the Global EcoConference program will also feature a dedicated session to address investment in the ecotourism industry across Australia.
