Best Western expands to City of Kuching, Malaysia

Facilities at the new hotel will include a restaurant serving local and international cuisines, a swimming pool and meeting and event space.

BANGKOK – Best Western Hotels & Resorts has expanded its portfolio in Malaysia with the signing of its first hotel in Kuching.

The new-build Best Western Plus Kuching is scheduled to welcome its first guests in 2018, providing an exciting new midscale option for travelers to this emerging city.

Upon completion, the Best Western Plus Kuching will offer 200 contemporary rooms and suites, all equipped with flat-screen televisions and international satellite channels, mini-bars, comfortable beds and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Facilities at the new hotel will include a restaurant serving local and international cuisines, a swimming pool and meeting and event space.

Olivier Berrivin, Best Western Hotels & Resorts’ managing director of international operations – Asia, said he was delighted to be establishing a presence in Kuching, the capital of the state of Sarawak.

“Kuching has been growing in stature for several years now, and is becoming a key part of the East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA). Having hosted several key regional events, such as the ASEAN Tourism Forum and Routes Asia, Kuching is now firmly on the map for both leisure and business travel,” Mr. Berrivin said.

“As such, it was important that Best Western established a presence in this fast-growing emerging market. And I am thrilled that we have been able to achieve this with a brand new Best Western Plus hotel.

“This exciting project will showcase the 21st Century vision of Best Western Hotels & Resorts, to provide modern, well-connected and value-for-money accommodation in the key Asian destinations. Best Western provides exemplary service to our guests and I have no doubt that the Best Western Plus Kuching will become very popular with travelers,” he concluded.

Best Western Hotels & Resorts currently operates three hotels in Malaysia: Best Western i-City Shah Alam, Best Western Petaling Jaya, and Best Western Premier The Haven Ipoh. Additionally, Best Western is planning to expand significantly in the country in the coming years.
