Amadeus promotes Cyril Tetaz to lead Airlines business in Asia Pacific

Cyril Tetaz

Cyril takes over from Hazem Hussein, who moves to North America to head Amadeus’ hospitality division after five incredible years in Asia Pacific.

SINGAPORE – Amadeus announces that Cyril Tetaz has been appointed Executive Vice President, Airlines, Amadeus Asia Pacific, with the responsibility of leading Amadeus’ Airlines business in Asia Pacific (APAC), effective April 2018.

Asia Pacific has been the fastest-growing region for Amadeus’ Airline business unit for the past five years. Today, most of the region’s major airlines use either one of Amadeus’ Passenger Service Systems (Altéa or New Skies), and in 2017 alone, 503 million passengers were boarded in APAC on airlines using either one of those systems.

Reporting to Julia Sattel, Senior Vice President, Airlines, Cyril will lead the charge in continuing Amadeus Airlines’ growth momentum in the region, supporting and enabling APAC airlines in their ambitions to pursue growth, greater customer-centricity and digital transformation.

“In Asia Pacific, growth goes hand in hand with a dynamism and complexity that makes this a region unlike any other. Likewise the needs of our customers here are unique. They want to do things differently. And I am fully confident that under Cyril’s leadership we will continue to deliver on those needs with the flexibility and speed that our customers expect. Cyril brings to the role not only an excellent track record and seasoned experience in the airline industry, but also a genuine commitment to putting our customers first. I also want to thank Hazem Hussein, for the invaluable role he has played in building the thriving Airlines business we have today in APAC,” said Sattel.

Hazem Hussein moves to North America to assume the position of Amadeus’ hospitality division CEO. Hazem first moved to Asia Pacific in 2012, and leaves behind the legacy of a strong team that has achieved remarkable success in the time since. Cyril, a 13 year-veteran of Amadeus, has been an integral part of Hazem’s team throughout this time and in his most recent role was Head of Commercial for Airlines Asia Pacific.

Hussein added, “I leave behind customers and a team that have grown very dear to my heart over the past five years. But I do so with the reassurance that there is no one more capable or dedicated than Cyril to take on the mantle. I have worked with him closely for many years and know he will always have our customers’ needs at heart. I am excited to see where he takes the business.”

Cyril commented, “I’m honored to be given this opportunity to lead the excellent team we already have in place. I’ve always been deeply passionate about the airline industry, and since moving to Tokyo in 2013 and next to Singapore this year, I have also come to love this region. These are exciting times, and this is a phenomenal place to be. The needs of our customers are always evolving, and it will be my focus to ensure that we’re always a step ahead in anticipating and addressing those needs. I want to thank Hazem for the strong foundation he has left behind.”

Cyril first joined Amadeus in 2004. He led Amadeus’ Airline Distribution Marketing department before relocating to Tokyo in 2013 as Regional Director for Airlines in Japan. He was appointed Head of Commercial for Airlines, Asia Pacific in 2017.
