Thai MICE industry ‘back to business’ as curfew lifted nationwide

In Bangkok and nationwide, all businesses and MICE facilities such as convention and exhibition centres and hotels are now operating as normal.

BANGKOK – The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB has welcomed the decision by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) to lift the night-time curfew nationwide with immediate effect, further demonstrating that Thailand is back to business as usual, and ready to embrace MICE travellers from all over the world.

The daily curfew, which had already been gradually lifted in key MICE and tourist destinations, was put in place for three weeks to ensure the safety of Thai citizens as well as MICE visitors and travellers during the Kingdom’s political transition.

Welcoming the announcement, Mr Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, president of TCEB, commented that “Stability is a key consideration for MICE travellers, and the lifting of the night-time curfew is a strong indication that the situation throughout Thailand has returned to normal for business travellers. We look forward to extending our famous warm Thai hospitality and world-class MICE service to our valued visitors.”

The nationwide lifting of the curfew was widely anticipated by many stakeholders, given the significant steps taken by all parties to return everyday life to normal for business travellers, tourists and local residents alike. In Bangkok and nationwide, all businesses and MICE facilities such as convention and exhibition centres and hotels are now operating as normal.
