Mekong Tourism Digital Boot Camp at Mekong Tourism Forum educates on key sources markets China and India

The half-day Mekong Tourism Digital Boot camp aims to help small and medium enterprises in the GMS understand how to leverage technology to develop and promote their products.

BANGKOK – Since 2012, the Mekong Tourism Forum has educated delegates on the importance of digital, mobile, and social media, in partnership with UNWTO Affiliate Member Chameleon Strategies. This year’s Mekong Tourism Digital Bootcamp is produced by Digi.travel and Digital Innovation Asia, and facilitated by Mr. Theodore Koumelis, Managing Director Travel Daily News Asia. The half-day Mekong Tourism Digital Boot camp on the morning of July 5th aims to help small and medium enterprises in the GMS understand how to leverage technology to develop and promote their products. 
 
Mr. Clement Wong, founder of Singapore-based BeMyGuest and former Phocuswright analyst provides practical tips for small travel and tourism entrprises how to promote their products digitally to consumers. 
 
China and India are important sources markets for destinations in the Mekong Region. Ms. Lucy Peng of Guilin-based Dynasty Travel will help travel and tourism companies in the region understand how to reach the right Chinese consumer. Mr. Vineet Budki, CEO of Mumbai-based travel technology company Guiddoo will help delegates appreciate the power of the Indian traveler, and how to leverage mobile in promoting experiences. Mr. Sieng Van Tran, Chairman of Vietnam-based Egg Group will share insights on marketing to the complex Southeast Asian market, as well as leveraging video and visual content. Finally, Smart Telecom will highlight the latest trends in mobile marketing in Cambodia.
 
Mr. Jens Thraenhart, Executive Director of the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office (MTCO) will introduce some of the programs that have been developed as part of the new award-winning MekongTourism.org digital platform, including the Contributor program, the Experience Mekong Showcase, as well as the planned #MekongMoments social media campaign.
 
The Mekong Tourism Digital Boot Camp will finish with an interactive “Ad Hoc” Panel where the surprise moderator will pick his or her diverse panel randomly from the audience to discuss how to market the Mekong Region via digital, social, and mobile. 
 
The 2016 Mekong Tourism Forum will be hosted by the Cambodia Ministry of Tourism (MoT) at the Sokha Beach Resort Sihanoukville on the beautiful Southern Coast of Cambodia from July 5 to July 7.  More information, and the most updated agenda, is accessible at www.MekongTourismForum.org.
