Accidental hero strengthen the image of Thais as a good host for tourists

The video clip shows a heroic action of Mr. Chat Ubonchinda, 44, a worker in Tambon Pak Nam in Mueang district, Krabi province who came to the aid of an elderly Norwegian couple stuck in thick mud and could not move to save themselves.

BANGKOK – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has made a high praise to the man from Krabi whose good deeds in helping tourists from being stuck in the mud, saying it helps boost up the positive image and reputation of Thailand in the eyes of international travellers.
 
Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha also applauded his good deeds, saying this is a good example that strengthens the image of Thainess and Thai hospitality to the world.
 
Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor said, “Thais are typically friendly, kind-hearted and humble by characteristics. The Krabi man who kindly saved the Norwegian tourist couple is the finest example of the very caring and humble nature of the Thai people. This is another good proof that Thais are a good host and are ready to help tourists when in need despite of the nationality or challenging situation.
 
The video clip shows a heroic action of Mr. Chat Ubonchinda, 44, a worker in Tambon Pak Nam in Mueang district, Krabi province who came to the aid of an elderly Norwegian couple stuck in thick mud and could not move to save themselves. When Mr. Chat spotted this incident, he came to rescue them immediately. He failed in the first attempt to pull the tourists out of the mud, so he decided to lay face down in the mud and let the tourists climb up on himself. After he was assured that both were safe, the man rapidly left without asking anything in return.
