6th Annual MTC Gold Awards 2022 take place at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching on 22 October 2022

MTC Gold Awards pay tribute and confer the highest accolade to individuals and organisations whose outstanding contributions play a significant role in the success of Malaysia’s tourism industry.

KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysia Tourism Council (MTC), with the support of The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP), will organise the 6th Annual MTC Gold Awards 2022 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Saturday, 22 October 2022.

This marks the first time that the MTC Gold Awards is held in Malaysian Borneo and the first time MTC collaborates with the State Government of Sarawak via MTCP in organizing this prestigious ceremony. The Premier of Sarawak, The Right Honourable Tan Sri Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Abang Openg, is expected to officiate this event, accompanied by the Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, The Honourable Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

MTC Gold Awards pay tribute and confer the highest accolade to individuals and organisations whose outstanding contributions play a significant role in the success of Malaysia’s tourism industry.

More than 100 awards will be presented to the industry players by MTC for their excellence and support in the development of the tourism industry in Malaysia.

The awards celebrate and honour the tourism industry’s best achievers who have excelled in quality service and continuous growth, consequentially setting the benchmark for excellence and best practices for others in the Malaysian tourism industry to emulate.

This annual event is also an opportunity to bring together all industry players and stakeholders such as the national and state tourism organisations, local authorities, hotels, restaurants, tour operators, and travel agencies to network and explore new collaborations and opportunities in Sarawak.

As of today, MTC has confirmed over 1,100 attendees who will attend this year’s event in Kuching. That number is expected to increase as it gets nearer to the event day.

According to the President of Malaysia Tourism Council Mr. Uzaidi Udanis, the MTC Gold Awards is the tourism industry’s ultimate award ceremony that recognises Malaysia’s own tourism industry ‘superheroes’.

“As the tourism industry moves towards recovery, let’s seize the chance to recognize the contribution made by all tourism industry heroes who have survived the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope to encourage and inspire these tourism players who not only fought the severe pandemic but in many ways have overcome the odds to endure the most challenging situation of our lives,“ said Uzaidi.

Besides the awards, the attendees will be feted with cultural dances by Sarawak Cultural Village, a one-of-a-kind presentation called ‘Musik Tenunan’ by boutique atelier Tanoti using traditional ethnic weaving equipment, and an uplifting experimental world music performance by one of Sarawak’s brightest musical gems At Adau.
