Melbourne Convention Centre collects another two awards

The Melbourne Convention Centre has won another two major awards – this time at the annual Australian Property Institute’s 2009 Excellence in Property Awards. These are some of the most prestigious awards in the property industry, recognising innovation and outstanding achievement across the entire Australian property industry.

The first award was the sought-after API President’s Award which was awarded to a nominee that has demonstrated world class achievement in its field, and delivered a project that is an outstanding addition to the built fabric of Melbourne and will generate considerable economic benefit for the state of Victoria.

The centre was also recognised with the Investa Environmental Development Award. This was awarded for outstanding leadership in terms of sustainable development for successfully integrating exemplary sustainability design principles in the operation of the convention centre, and in its construction and development.

The award submissions were jointly created by Major Projects Victoria (MPV) and the Plenary Group, and were presented at an awards ceremony in Melbourne on 3 September.
In recognising the Plenary Group and MPV for their winning submission, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre’s chief executive Leigh Harry said: “Congratulations to all involved on winning these extremely important awards. They represent the successful delivery of a public private partnership project and also recognise the significant benefits the Melbourne Convention Centre is already bringing and will continue to bring to Melbourne and Victoria.”
