ExecuJet Australasia announces new facility at Melbourne Essendon Airport

ExecuJet Australasia has announced plans to expand its existing maintenance facility at Essendon Airport in Melbourne, Australia. The current facility occupies a private hangar spanning over 2,700 sq.m in a secure hangar precinct at the airport, the additional facility will add a further 755m² for a Fixed Base Operation (FBO), with integrated lounge area, offices, stores and maintenance workshops.  Construction is planned for completion in August this year.

“We have planned to take on a further six staff to run the new facility” stated Darren McGoldrick, Managing Director ExecuJet Australasia. “We will be operating a full service FBO, aircraft management and charter, as well as our existing maintenance capabilities.” The existing hangar accommodates two large and two midsize jets and currently employs a workforce of 10 staff, consisting of maintenance engineers, aircrew and administrative staff.

ExecuJet’s current maintenance facility is a FAA Part 145 Repair Station and holds a New Zealand CAA and an Australian CASA Certificate of Approval, which allows the company to work on a wide selection of business jets, turboprops and light aircraft. ExecuJet Melbourne is also a Gulfstream, Bombardier and Embraer authorised service centre.

“We are already certified to work on a large range of business jets but plan to enhance our maintenance capabilities in the near future” stated Grant Ingall, Maintenance Director. “We also provide a 24-hour call out service which ensures that any aircraft downtime is kept to a minimum”.

Essendon Fields has expanded into a corporate & retail hub amalgamating both Essendon Airport and the commercial land seamlessly in the growth corridor of the North West of Melbourne. “The expansion will strengthen Essendon Airports role as the largest dedicated business & Executive Airport in Australia” said Rob Whitwell, General Manager, Essendon Fields. “We are delighted that ExecuJet has increased their business operations to offer clients with an even more comprehensive service” he added.

ExecuJet has been operating at Essendon airport for the past four years and manages a further facility in Sydney which provides maintenance, aircraft management, charter and acts as the regions head office. In November 2010 ExecuJet announced the establishment of ExecuJet New Zealand, based in Wellington, and was awarded an AOC.
