Sofitel Onboard as Foundation Member for ‘Queenstown Prestige’

The boutique Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa has signed on to become one of just ten foundation members comprising Queenstown Prestige – New Zealand’s newest and most exclusive luxury tourism alliance. Members plan to formally launch the new initiative at a mystery VIP function to be held in Queenstown on the evening of May 23rd.

In the meantime, Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa’s Director of Sales & Marketing Tanya Dennis, says the hotel is proactively working with other prestige operators to harness the potential of the collective and showcase the finest that Queenstown has to offer.

“It’s an exceptional group of operators,” said Ms Dennis. “We really are all focused on showcasing the amazingly diverse yet complementary resources that Queenstown has at its disposal which cater to the luxury sector. It is very exciting to be working with other high-calibre tourism businesses including luxury addresses, retailers, gourmet specialists and transport services”.

Ms Dennis said there was an opportunity to take a more proactive approach to networking at the deluxe level.

“The Sofitel team is really looking forward to this compelling collective evolving to create new opportunities for the targeted luxury market segment. Our aim as a collective is to also better define the true meaning of luxury for travellers to Queenstown.”

The hotel’s General Manager, MrWouter de Graaf said of the initiative, “Many of the operators involved already work as an informal network in regards to referrals and servicing the needs of discerning clients, so this alliance was the next logical step.”

In addition to Sofitel, foundation members comprise other multi-award-winning providers including Eichardt’s, Touch of Spice, Blanket Bay, Matakauri Lodge, Queenstown Opal Centre jewellers, Over The Top Helicopters, Mount Edward Winery and high-quality transport company BLACK.

In April, the Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa was the first hotel to be admitted into the Exclusive accommodation category of Qualmark – New Zealand tourism’s official quality assurance system.

Launched in 2005 as Queenstown’s original five-star hotel, Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa was relaunched in late 2010 following an impressive $2 million upgrade and extension. The hotel now offers a transformed grand ground floor, revolutionised lobby, lounge and reception, plus a new eatery – Left Bank Cafe.
