Huka lodge wins prestigious Travel + Leisure Award

New Zealand’s original luxury retreat, Huka Lodge, has been recognized as among the Top 100 Hotels overall in the Travel + Leisure 2013 World’s Best Awards readers’ survey.

NEW ZEALAND – New Zealand’s original luxury retreat, Huka Lodge, has been recognized as among the Top 100 Hotels overall in the Travel + Leisure 2013 World’s Best Awards readers’ survey.

Readers voted the iconic property number five in the category of the Top Resorts in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, and number two in New Zealand, coming just after a busy period in which the property has launched a range of initiatives to enhance the experiences of existing and future guests.

These include new programs for the weddings sector, corporate and incentive groups, packages for the Mount Ruapehu ski fields and multi-generational packages aimed at bringing families together in the one location, whether in the Lodge’s eighteen suites or either the Alan Pye Cottage or The Owner’s Cottage.

Along with sister properties Dolphin Island, Fiji and Grande Provence, South Africa, Huka Lodge has also been celebrated in a new book which takes readers on a stunning pictorial journey of The Huka Retreats, WORLDS APART, launched last month with a foreword by the late Bryce Courtenay and available online through the website.

The Huka Retreats are the vision of their founder, entrepreneur Alex van Heeren, recognized as the pioneer of luxury lodges in the region.
