Tsunami affected hotels re-opening to tourists

Asia Pacific`s leading on-line accommodation provider HotelClub.com in conjunction with its hotel partners in South-East Asia, are working with the Tourism Authorities and their communities affected by the natural disaster, to recover and minimise the economic impact of this disaster.

Thailand, has declared itself open for business encouraging tourist with a friendly Thai welcome. Information provided from Tourism Authority of Thailand indicated that the general area is recovering quickly – no disease has been detected and water, food and electricity are all available. Popular tourist destinations of Phuket and Krabi have numerous properties open and trading as normal. Of the 67 hotels HotelClub.com work with in Phuket, 81% are already back in operation and are available for bookings. Only a small minority are still closed for renovations and repair but are schedule to open soon. Of 32 hotels

HotelClub.com work with in Krabi, 90% are back in operation and are taking reservations.

Tourism Malaysia has indicated that business is back to normal. While Penang was the most affected area in Malaya, most resorts are now operating normally. Likewise, in Langkawi, majority of the resorts in the popular destination of Langkawi are open for business. All properties, on HotelClub.com, in Penang and Langkawi are available to take bookings.

Chloe Lim, Director of Marketing, HotelClub.com said We are also working with our hotel partners in Thailand and Malaysia as they re-open and re-build from this tragedy. The hotels are keen to have tourists come back to visit them as quickly as possible, so have been offering great deals to encourage the bookings. It is not disrespectful to visit these countries. In fact, it assists communities to grow and re-build, which is what we are looking to do by working hand in hand with our hotel partners in affected regions.

Cendant, owner of Flairview Travel – operators HotelClub.com and RatesToGo.com, have assisted relief efforts in rebuilding of a school in Khoa Lak, Thailand devastated by the tsunami. Employees of Cendant globally have supported relief efforts for the immediate needs of food, medical supplies and temporary shelter by donating to various charitable organizations.
