Dining goes social! Touristlink.com announces new social features enabling travelers to connect with restaurants and cafes. Touristlink does not only online reservations but it does allow travelers to make inquires about a particular restaurant which are then passed on free of charge to the restaurateur.

NAGPUR – Touristlink.com, a social network connecting travelers with local travel providers is introducing new functionality to connect travelers with restaurateurs. Restaurateurs can highlight the details of their restaurant or restaurants as the case may be alongside their social profile. Menu details and pictures can be uploaded alongside the general description. Travelers visiting the website will be able to ask questions and interact with the restaurateur and to share the restaurant on other social networks. Restaurateurs can get added visibility as travelers can save restaurant to have been or want to go lists that they create on the site.

The website already lists several hundred restaurants around the world. The site founders commented that “the number of restaurants on the website right now is quite small but we plan to change that in the next 6 months in response to feedback from our users.” Restaurateurs whose restaurant is already listed on the website can simply claim and start the edit the listing via a simple process. Touristlink does not only online reservations but it does allow travelers to make inquires about a particular restaurant which are then passed on free of charge to the restaurateur.

These new features aim to provide travelers with the information they need during their travels. The founders of Touristlink aim to have 20,000 restaurant listings globally in the next 6 months and over 50,000 by the end of 2013. Since the site launched in October 2011 it has signed up over 5,000 local travel businesses, many of whom are offering their own deals on the platform. According to rankings on Alexa.com the site is now one of the largest social networks for travel.

Touristlink is a social marketplace for travel that lets travelers get to know firsthand the local behind the tour they are planning or the small hotel they want to stay. Travelers tired of generic tour offerings can get unique trip ideas and offers direct from local providers as well as see reviews and recommendations of the same provider from other travelers. Businesses benefit in that they get additional online exposure and can access a host of tools to help them engage customers on traditional social media platforms. It’s a great resource whether you want to get off the beaten path or just want to plan your own trip. Touristlink is managed by GotripIndia and has versions in both Spanish (es.touristlink.com) and Portugese (Touristlink.com.br).
