The Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s rivises its travel advice on Kashmir

Indus Tours welcomes the rivision of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office which advises that the Kashmiri cities of Jammu and Srinagar as now safe to visit

Indus Tours, the tailor-made holiday specialist, is celebrating the recent decision from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) to downgrade its travel advisory to the beautiful region of Kashmir, in far north-western India. The FCO revised its stance on the region last week by declaring the Kashmiri cities of Jammu and Srinagar as being safe to visit. Travel between the two cities on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway (and to the high-altitude state of Ladakh) is now also considered acceptable and safe. Only the border areas, far from the main tourist attractions, are still deemed off-limits to visitors. This development has effectively given Indus Tours the green light to actively promote its market-leading programme of holidays to Kashmir – one of the most mesmerising regions of the Indian subcontinent.

Commenting on the FCO’s decision regarding travel to Kashmir, Yasin Zargar, Managing Director of Indus Tours, said, “We are delighted to finally be able to showcase our range of Kashmir tours, safe in the knowledge that the key areas of the region are now as secure and tranquil as they are beautiful and serene.  Kashmir has a long history with the UK going back to the days of the Raj when British holidaymakers escaped the Indian heat by going to Srinagar over the summer months to enjoy the tranquillity of staying in one of the beautifully appointed house boats – it is fantastic to be able to offer this opportunity again. The history, culture and ease of access to northern India’s other headline destinations make it the perfect fit for an exciting and memorable tour to this corner of the country. Whether customers choose to visit on an escorted tour or under their own steam on a tailor-made itinerary, they’ll find that Kashmir truly lives up to its reputation as being an earthly paradise!”
