An internal study done by CSI Aviation Services, Inc. shows that while corporate travel inquiries have declined in the last year, executive jet charter has actually increased, signifying that businesses are slashing corporate fleets and flying charter.

Michele Martinez, Vice President of Commercial and Military Operations, said CSI saw a 23 percent decrease in the amount of corporate travel inquiries in the past year, confirming that companies continue to scale back on travel.

However, there was a 14 percent increase in executive jet charter, indicating companies that rely on private jets are using air charter instead of maintaining a costly private fleet, Martinez said.

“We saw fewer corporate inquiries because many companies continue to cut their travel budget. On the other hand, there was an increase in executive jet charter because we think companies are slashing their corporate fleets and chartering to save money,” Martinez said. “The costs of maintaining, operating and staffing an aircraft can be astronomical. Since companies are trying to spend less, air charter is a better option for them.”
