Russian tour operators noted the increase of sales of the tours to Austria

About 190 thousand Russians visited Austria during the first six months of the year and it`s for 26% more than during the same period of last year, reports Austrian National tourist Office. Russian citizens stayed for almost 853 thousand nights during the period from January to July 2010 (+18.5% in comparison with the same period of last year).

It`s interesting to note, that Austria was always popular as Alpine skiing destination and became popular in summer as well. According to the data of Austrian National tourist Office, the number of Russian visitors increased by 36% during the period from May to July.

As for the winter holidays, now the operators give positive forecast. They expect that the sales will increase on the average by 17%.

Just to remind, Austria takes the 16th place in the PROALPS rating of TOP 50 Alpine skiing destinations for the Russians (2007/2008), including the first 3 places. 36 Austrian skiing destinations were included into the list of 95 popular winter alpine skiing centres among the Russians.

According to the Austrian National Tourist Office, the increase in number of the visits of foreign tourists amounted to 5.3% during the first six months of the year in comparison with last year. The total growth of number of the nights of foreign tourists amounted not more than 1.4% and the number of the nights of the Germans (the priority market) decreased by 4.1%.
