Preferred Hotel Group strengthens presence in China through partnership with Himalayas Hotels & Communities

Addition of two new properties increases brand’s portfolio in the country to 23 member hotels.

SINGAPORE  –  Preferred Hotel Group™ has partnered with Himalayas Hotels & Communities, a move that enhances the company’s Asia Pacific portfolio with the addition of  two innovative, stylish lifestyle hotels: Himalayas Qingdao Hotel, a member of Preferred Hotels and Resorts; and Himalayas Nantong Hotel, a member of Preferred Boutique.

Our partnership with Himalayas Hotels & Communities is a significant development, as it exemplifies our commitment to expand the Preferred Hotel Group brand into secondary cities across China,”  said Mr. Anthony Ross, Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. “As discerning travellers continue to demand something unique and new from the independent hospitality experience, we are pleased to welcome these two properties and the vibrant, integrated lifestyle element that they bring to our growing portfolio.”

Both Himalayas Qingdao Hotel and Himalayas Nantong Hotel will represent the first lifestyle hotels to open in their respective cities and both are situated within larger development complexes, extending vibrant programming to guests through an abundance of shopping, dining, and entertainment offerings. In addition, both properties feature “paperless” guestrooms, encouraging guests to pursue environmentally friendly travel practices by doing everything from check-in to check-out using the property’s on-site technological offerings.

Additional highlights of the new hotels to join Preferred Hotel Group include:

•    Himalayas Qingdao Hotel:
Scheduled to open end of March 2014, Himalayas Qingdao Hotel is the first lifestyle hotel in Qingdao and the flagship property of Himalayas Hotels & Communities. Located in the seaside Laoshan District at the base of the revered Mt. Lao (Lao Shan), just 10 minutes by car to Shilaoren Beach, the hotel forms part of Zendai Thumb Plaza. It was designed by HASSELL Studio Australia, the creators of the Sydney Olympic Swimming Centre and Chongqing Grand Theatre, and features  contemporary interiors that were inspired by Mt. Lao and its natural lodestones. Used throughout the hotel, the attractive lodestones are naturally magnetic rocks that possess unique healing properties and good-luck energy. The hotel is comprised of 208 guestrooms, including 24 suites. On-property amenities include an all-day dining restaurant, a lounge bar, a full-service  Health Club and Spa Himalayas, and 1,000 square meters of flexible function space equipped with state-of-the-art audio and visual capabilities.

•    Himalayas Nantong Hotel:
Scheduled to open end of April 2014, Himalayas Nantong Hotel will also be the first lifestyle hotel to open in Nantong — a fast-growing river port city at the mouth of the Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province. The hotel is conveniently located between the main city centre and the new CBD, next to Wolf Hill (Lang Shan), one of the area’s most popular tourist destinations. Himalayas Nantong Hotel will be part of the 19th Century-styled Nantong The City complex. The hotel is comprised of 80 guestrooms, including 16 suites, and a signature restaurant Jiu Jian Tang that will serve local Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisine in a contemporary Chinese setting. Other programming details are forthcoming.
