Pentahotel Hong Kong, Kowloon opens as the first international brand hotel in the emerging Kai Tak area

Debut offers welcome digital nomads and independent-minded travellers to the neighbourhood hub offerinf friendly, uncomplicated service.

HONG KONG – Pentahotel Hong Kong, opens as the first international brand hotel in the fast-emerging Kai Tak area of Kowloon East. Just like pentahotels in Europe, the neighbourhood lifestyle pentahotel is designed as a gathering spot for the local community and a home base for independent-minded travellers keen to discover the colourful surrounding neighbourhoods.

The 32-storey pentahotel Hong Kong, Kowloon, a few minutes’ walk from the Diamond Hill MTR station, features 695 practical, New York loft-style inspired guestrooms. The hotel’s overall design blends style with simplicity and comfort with convenience.

Contemporary rustic decor, including aged brick, reclaimed oak, and painted concrete walls laced with “graffiti,” is complemented by whimsical cultural references, injecting Hong Kong-style “pentafun” around every corner. Funky, iconic local design brand G.O.D. produced the playful, graphic in-room mugs for guests and Hong Kong-inspired accessories available in a “maxibar” vending machine. Pentalounge, the heart and soul of the pentahotel experience, seamlessly combines a lobby, reception area, bar and cafe into a single venue. The lively gathering place is anchored by eatstreet@pentalounge, which offers a wide range of favourite local dishes — from Hong Kong-style egg waffles, “cart” noodles and curry fish ball, pork rind and white turnip — and best-loved Western comfort foods from munchies to classic mains — crowned by desserts and cakes created by local celebrity pastry chef Tony Wong.

Another unique dining feature is the pizzabar next to the hotel’s main entrance, offering authentic Italian-style pizza, to be enjoyed on-site or for takeaway.

Also in pentalounge, guests and neighbourhood residents can gather to play foosball or a game of Wii or shoot pool in the two Games Rooms, surf the web at the Internet corners or browse the playlist at the pentafun Music Stations.

Modern technology facilities and services for digital nomads and tech-savvy travellers include free hotel-wide WiFi, in-room smartphone docking, smartphone charging service and digital check-in and check-out.

“We’re thrilled to open our doors to welcome our first guests and serve our neighbours with style and spirit,” said General Manager Andy So. “It’s an honour to be the first pentahotel in this extraordinary city; we look forward to taking an active role in our community and playing a part in the emergence of a dynamic new Hong Kong district.”
