Panel discussion between industry leaders will launch 2005 summit

At 5.00 pm on Monday November 8 at the World Travel Market, at the ExCel Centre in London, a panel of industry leaders will come together on the World Stage for a live discussion to launch the 5th Global Travel & Tourism Summit.

The panel will comprise:

Ronald N. Andruff, President & CEO, Tralliance

Ron is the man behind the new ‘.travel’ Internet domain extension. He also co-founded Fare 1, a lowest fares portal for travel agents, and has advised several Fortune 100 companies on marketing. Previously he was an Ice Hockey professional.

Stelios Haji-Ioannou, Founder and Chairman of easyGroup

In addition to founding easyJet, a tanker company, an association of ship owners who believe in sustainable development, Stelios continues to undertake feasibility studies on new ventures. At present, easyBus, easyCruise, easyDorm, easyHotel and easyPizza are all under consideration.

Renuka Chowdhury, Minister of Tourism, India

Renuka is a vocal supporter of Tourism in India, where she has held senior political office, including: Chief Whip, Union Minister of State, Health and Family Welfare, Member, Committee on Finance and Member, Committee on the Empowerment of Women.

Mrs Wangping, President, Chamber of Tourism Commerce, China

Mrs Wangping is an outspoken supporter of for Tourism in China, where she has held many major political positions, including: Member of the CNPPCC, Standing member of the NAIC Executive, Director of the Direct Affiliated Chamber of NAIC, Vice Chairman of the China Ethnic Association and Vice Chairman of the China Urban, Anthropology Association.

Peter Wong, Chairman MK Corporation

Mr Wong has been devoted to the development of hotels and tourism along the ancient Silk Road for the past ten years and has been in business in China for over 25 years. Currently, he holds directorship in several public companies and is on the board of Jinan University.

Members of the audience will be able to put their questions live and journalists will have the opportunity to engage the leaders in one-on-one conversations afterwards.

The panel will be moderated by TV presenter Gwenan Edwards, who will ensure relevance, pace and spontaneity of the responses.

Launch of the 5th Global Travel & Tourism Summit

This highly interactive panel discussion will be a model for what will take place on a much larger scale in New Delhi, India from April 8 – 10 2005.

Organized by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and supported by the Indian government, it will be attended by the Chairmen and CEOs of the world’s top Travel & Tourism companies, over a hundred of the world’s leading travel and business journalists and numerous government officials.

With so many of the most influential people in the industry expected to attend, The 5th Global Travel & Tourism Summit, will be the highest-level meeting in the Travel & Tourism calendar. It has already attracted unprecedented media interest and it will be broadcast live.
