Malaysia Airlines implements Abacus ETAT platfrom in Vietnam

Abacus International, Asia’s leading revenue partner for airlines, partnered Malaysia Airlines to launch its third eTAT platform in Vietnam, further reinforcing their strong 20-year relationship. This also marks an important growth milestone for Malaysia Airlines as they have recently increased their flight services to Saigon from 14 flights weekly to 19 flights weekly effective 19th Apr 2010.

Abacus-appointed travel agents in Vietnam will be the first to issue electronic TAT tickets on behalf of Malaysia Airlines, reaping significant efficiencies in their sales and ticketing process. This follows the successful implementation of eTAT by Malaysian Airlines in Brunei and Myanmar and it significantly increases Malaysia Airlines’ fulfilment capability and reach in these key markets.

Speaking of the two decade long relationship, Director, Airline Distribution of Abacus International, Ho Hoong Mau, said this is an excellent example of the strong engagement Abacus has with its airline offices across Asia Pacific.

“The foundation to our long standing partnership with Malaysia Airlines is the value that Abacus brings to our airline and agency customers which include the widest productive agency network in Asia to sell Malaysia Airlines seats and Abacus-customised solutions that offer great convenience for travel agents and the travelling public alike. Abacus strives to enable our airline customers to focus on what’s important to them, i.e., revenue generation and building deeper relationships with their customers.”

Bernard Francis, Senior General Manager, Sales & Marketing, Malaysia Airlines said, “Malaysia Airlines is delighted to have successfully partnered with Abacus over the years. The eTAT platform is another great solution from Abacus that will boosts our market competitiveness. It allows us to notably increase our market distribution in areas where we did not have access previously.”

“We first announced our joint venture partnership with Abacus in the beginning of 1990. Our relationship has since gone from strength-to-strength. Many travel agents and customers have benefited from various unique promotions with Abacus in Malaysia, Singapore and other key markets.”
