List of Shanghai`s first “Conference Organizers in Compliance with Management & Service Standards of the Meetings Industry” released

SHANGHAI – On January 5, the list of Shanghai`s first “Conference Organizers in Compliance with Management & Service Standards of the Meetings Industry” was released. Thirteen meetings management and service organizations have passed the evaluation in compliance with applicable standards, and with the approval of Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration, have obtained the “Shanghai Conference Service Standard Organization” certificate issued by the M.I.C.E. Service Standards Technical Committee of Shanghai Tourism Standards Technical Committee.
 

The management and service standards of the meetings industry provides important technical support to the development of the tourism industry, is an important way to manage and supervise the tourism market and the meetings industry, improve services, promote the restructuring of the tourism industry, enhance the international competitiveness of Shanghai`s meetings service industry, and build Shanghai into a world famous tourist destination. 
 

On September 20, 2012, “Management and Service Standards of the Meetings Industry, Part I: Conference Organizers” (DB31/T636.1-2012), the first set of regional standards in China`s meetings service industry, was officially released. In order to promote the standardization and professionalism of Shanghai`s meetings service industry and contribute to the worthy cause of building Shanghai into an international destination for business events, Shanghai Tourism Standards Technical Committee established the M.I.C.E. Service Standards Technical Committee on April 16, 2013,.
 

In June 2014, the M.I.C.E. Service Standards Technical Committee officially initiated the project of evaluation of compliance with standards with respect to Shanghai`s conference organizers, and in September 2014 organized expert visits to the conference organizers which had applied for evaluation and carefully examined and scored the applicants. Based on the evaluation of the M.I.C.E. Service Standards Technical Committee and subject to the approval of Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration, the list of Shanghai`s first “Conference Organizers in Compliance with Management & Service Standards of the Meetings Industry” was released. The 13 conference organizers which have passed the compliance evaluation are:

The Oppland Corporation 

Shanghai Business International Travel Co., Ltd.
 

In order to further promote the development of Shanghai`s meetings management and service standardization, the M.I.C.E. Service Standards Technical Committee opened a website on meetings service standardization (www.smcss.org). Enterprises which have met the standards can provide their corporate information through the website, and those which intend to apply for evaluation can apply through the website. The website marks another milestone in the work of Shanghai`s meetings service standardization.
