Korea sparkles with student traveller discounts using the ISIC Student Card

Korea Tourism Organization is encouraging student travellers from around the world to visit the country with the publication of a discount booklet ‘Benefits in Korea’ offering large discounts for International Student Identity Card (ISIC) cardholders.

The booklet itself is a useful resource giving a historical insight into the background of many of Korea’s cultural assets and experiences. Other pages detail special discounts on the Korail pass and International Ferries for example.

ISIC helps save on sightseeing with up to 50% off visits to Seoul’s four major royal palaces as well as museums and cultural properties. Popular theatre performances in Seoul like the Chongdong Theatre offers traditional Korean performances at 25% off and modern shows like ‘Jump’ at 20% off.

With the KR Pass (Korea Railpass) ISIC card holders receive good discounts with a 3-day youth pass costing as little as £30 and a 10-day pass approx. £66. With a 10-day KR pass visitors can take in all the top tourism sights and attractions in Korea.

Discounts are available on getting to and from Korea from China and Japan with 20% off international ferry services as well as domestic ferry discounts. The Seoul City Tour Bus, a great way to get around Seoul offers a discount of 10% for ISIC cardholders.

There is a huge range of discounts ranging from 10-50% off everything from visits to royal palaces and tombs, museums, cultural performances, entertainment, restaurants, theme parks, accommodation and transportation around the country.

Accommodation in Korean guesthouses and backpacker’s hostels is very cheap. ISIC cardholders can receive discounts of around 10% at various guesthouses and backpackers hostels.
