Jet Airways’ daily service to Johannesburg to be a gateway to Africa

Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, is set to open up the exotic and unexplored continent of Africa to Indian and international travelers with several convenient and comfortable connections from Johannesburg. India’s premier airline is set to inaugurate its first-ever daily non-stop service from Mumbai to Johannesburg on April 14th 2010.

Passengers travelling on Jet Airways’ flights will now be able to book onward connections to other South African destinations like Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, the famed Kruger National Park and East London. Additionally, in conjunction with its daily non-stop service to Johannesburg, the airline has also introduced exclusive South African JetEscapes packages, which will enable tourists to explore the Rainbow Nation with its perfect blend of wildlife, luxury, adventure and stunning landscapes.

The Jet Airways’ flight into Johannesburg will also provide convenient and immediate onwards connections to other destinations in the African region, to cities like Harare, Victoria Falls, Windhoek, Livingstone, Mauritius, Lilongwe, Blantyre, Bulawayo, Gaborone, Maputo, Kinshasa, Lagos, Luanda and Lusaka, making Jet Airways India’s first private carrier to provide its passengers with the dual benefits of seamless connectivity and significant savings for travel within the African continent.

According to Mr. Naresh Goyal, Chairman, Jet Airways, “India’s premier airline has worked continuously to expand its international network in recent times, with successful forays into the UK, the US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. It is now with great pride and excitement that we take our guests to a new continent – Africa. We are delighted to introduce a daily, non-stop service from Mumbai to Johannesburg which is set to emerge as a gateway for Indian travelers into the phenomenal world of business opportunities and breath-taking tourism options that the African continent represents.”

Mr. Goyal further added, “The African continent occupies a unique place in Indian minds and hearts, given our strong historical trade, cultural and political ties. We at Jet Airways are happy to facilitate the creation of a golden gateway with our daily flights to Johannesburg, aiding accelerated business, cultural, sporting and tourism ties.”

The African Continent offers untapped trade opportunities in areas like machinery and transport equipment, petroleum products, paper and wood products, textiles, iron and steel, plastic and linoleum products as also agro, chemicals and pharmaceutical products. The region has been attracting global attention because of its phenomenal investment potential in sectors like tourism, pharmaceuticals, electronics, IT, financial services and textiles.

In the area of tourism, South Africa is considered the tenth most-favored destination in the world as it offers the greatest variety of attractions. Considered the Adventure Capital of the World, South Africa is equally well known for its breath-taking scenic beauty, green valleys, historic towns, celebrity beaches as also award-winning wines and cuisine. Other countries too in the continent are rich in natural beauty, wildlife and culture. The continent is known for its incredible safaris, roaring waterfalls, pristine beaches, volcanic mountains as also rich treasure of flora and fauna.

The weather in Africa is another star attraction for the people of India and neighbouring countries desirous of ideal summer getaways as most parts of the continent would be cooler during their autumn and winter months.
