India launches new tourism campaigns

WTM in London has been the opportunity for India to present its newest tourism campaign for the international market at the same time than the country is looking to relaunch its domestic marketing campaign.

LONDON- India Tourism authorities unveiled two new tourism strategies – the ‘Find What You Seek’ campaign directed at international tourists, and the ‘Go Beyond’ campaign steered toward the domestic market – at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2012 that recently concluded in London.

India’s tourism minister K. Chiranjeevi said the new strategies represented a change in direction for India’s tourism industry as it seeks to promote the country both internationally and domestically.

The aim of the ‘Go Beyond’ campaign is to highlight places in India that are not as well known to both domestic and international tourists.

“Till now, we had been promoting India internationally from the point of view of the destinations. The Incredible India campaigns which we launched in 2002 have been extremely successful. In our ‘Take II’ of the Incredible India campaign, we are going to focus on the consumer,” Mr Chiranjeevi said.

The ‘Find What You Seek’ campaign is part two of the Incredible India campaign, the tourism minister said, adding: “Tourists from the world over can find the destination or product of their desire in India, be it heritage sites, forts, beaches, backwaters, lakes, mountains, adventure, wildlife, culture, festivals, medical, wellness, religion or shopping.

“India offers something for everyone and that is why we proudly say that India is an incredible destination with a range of products as found nowhere else. It is truly in India, you will find what you are seeking.”

Commenting on the WTM, Mr Chiranjeevi said this year the tourism ministry had increased its exhibition space by 15 per cent. Private tourism companies from India had also taken similarly-sized exhibition spaces. There were more than 110 tourism industry participants from India taking part in the WTM 2012.
