“Hotel East China Sea” on Ishigaki Island reopened on March 24

The hotel has been refurbished into a resort hotel where guests begin their stays with a welcome drink at its patio and can enjoy the atmosphere of a port town while imagining a beautiful paradise far south.

ISHIGAKI, Japan – The Court Co., Ltd. reopened its Hotel East China Seaon Ishigaki Island, Okinawa Prefecture, on Friday, March 24, 2017, after renovation.

The hotel has enjoyed high popularity among numerous guests as a landmark — which is only three minutes’ walk from the Ishigaki Port Terminal for ferries connecting Ishigaki with other islands such as Taketomi, Iriomote and Hateruma — and as a hub for island tours, marine sports and cycling.

The hotel has been renovated into a “sky lounge commanding a panoramic port view.” The hotel has been refurbished into a resort hotel where guests begin their stays with a welcome drink at its patio and can enjoy the atmosphere of a port town while imagining a beautiful paradise far south.

In the latest work, 26 guestrooms on the upper floors, restaurants on the third floor and the outdoor lounge have mainly been renovated, and an Italian restaurant has newly opened at the hotel.

The interiors of the 26 guestrooms — suite rooms on the 13th floor and other guestrooms on the 10th and upper floors — have been refurbished into earth color-based ones that chime in with an unobstructed view of the ocean and sky. Each guestroom is equipped with amenity goods produced by Aromatherapy Associates, an established British aromatherapy brand.

The third-floor Italian restaurant “Porto Azzurro” means “azure of the sky above the port” in Italian, and is a typical restaurant at a resort area. The blue- and white-based interior of the restaurant represents the sky and ocean stretching infinitely. Original foods — such as those using “miyabuta” pork and “misakigyu” beef nurtured by the nature of the Yaeyama Islands that include Ishigaki — are served at “Porto Azzurro.” These foods have been produced in the spirit of “nuchigusui” (the medicine of life), which has been handed down from generation to generation in Okinawa.

At “Sky Lounge,” an about 70-square-meter terrace within the restaurant, guests can enjoy a panoramic view of other Yaeyama Islands including Taketomi and ships sailing on the sea as well as sunset and the wonderful starry sky.
