Accor has added the Fortune Hotel Bangkok hotel to its growing network of Mercure properties in Asia. The 400-room hotel is currently undergoing a multi-million dollar refurbishment programme to meet brand standards, and will be rebranded Grand Mercure Fortune Bangkok when work is completed in December 2004.

Conveniently located on Bangkok`s Ratchadapisek Road, the hotel offers easy access to Bangkok International Airport and the recently open Bangkok Mass Rapid Transit (Rama 9 Station) underground system. It features seven food and beverage outlets, including Rim Suan Thai Restaurant and Art Gallery, Nan Yuen Chinese Restaurant and the Agehan Japanese Restaurant.

The hotel is adjacent to Fortune Town, a major shopping plaza with over 500 outlets, restaurants and an IT Mall.

Accor Managing Director Asia Pacific, Michael Issenberg, said the hotel was part of an aggressive expansion of the Mercure brand in Asia and would appeal to Accor`s customer base around the region.

We are pleased to add the hotel to a growing portfolio of Mercure hotels and resorts. The timing is excellent, as we believe there is growing demand from our corporate and leisure customers for the Mercure brand in Asia.

It will be a valued addition to our offering in Bangkok and added to our network of over 750 Mercure hotels worldwide.

Mr Sunthorn Arunanondchai, CP Plaza Co Ltd President and CEO of the owning company of the Fortune Hotel, said he was delighted the hotel was joining Accor`s growing collection of Mercure properties in Asia.

We believe the Mercure brand is an excellent fit for our hotel. Accor`s worldwide sales and marketing network will provide us with the opportunity to expand our business on a global scale and we look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship.
