Global Tourism Economy Forum 2016 kicks off a 5 Asian cities roadshow

GTEF 2016 will zero in on how this rising independent-minded, resourceful and tech-savvy group is more than ever the increasingly influential force in the tourism industry; and will engage public-and-private-sector leaders in thought-provoking discussions of issues relating to Chinese consumers, tourism and technology, urban tourism consumption revolution, the millennial travelers and tourism investment.

BEIJING – A five Asian cities roadshow for the special fifth anniversary edition of Global Tourism Economy Forum (“GTEF” or “the Forum”) kicked off on July 28, introducing GTEF 2016 to Beijing’s tourism industry peers and stakeholders. Scheduled to be held at Studio City Macau, the city’s newest iconic Hollywood-themed landmark, from 15 to 16 October 2016, this special anniversary edition will be dedicated to “THE GROWING CONSUMER CLASS, RETHINKING AND RESHAPING THE FUTURE TOURISM LANDSCAPE”. GTEF 2016 will zero in on how this rising independent-minded, resourceful and tech-savvy group is more than ever the increasingly influential force in the tourism industry; and will engage public-and-private-sector leaders in thought-provoking discussions of issues relating to Chinese consumers, tourism and technology, urban tourism consumption revolution, the millennial travelers and tourism investment.
 
Apart from being the partner city of this GTEF edition, Beijing’s prominence as the state capital of China and the epicenter of the country’s cultural and economic power makes it a unanimous first stop of the roadshow. A networking luncheon was hosted at Grand Hyatt Beijing on 28 July, connecting representatives from GTEF, China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, China Chamber of Tourism (CCT) and World Tourism Cities Federation with leaders from travel agencies, hoteliers, Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, as well as news and trade media representatives. Among the luncheon attendees were Mr. Wu Kefeng, Deputy Director General of Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs Department of China National Tourism Administration, Mr. Li Baochun, Deputy Secretary-General of World Tourism Cities Federation, Ms. Wang Ping, Vice Chairman of GTEF and Chairman of China Chamber of Tourism, Mr. Peter Wong, Vice Chairman of GTEF and Executive Chairman of China Chamber of Tourism. A brief introduction of the special fifth anniversary GTEF edition was made by Mr. Jason Wang, Chief Operating Officer of GTEF.


Global Tourism Economy Forum has gathered many tourism industry leaders and business elites at the Beijing Roadshow.

 
Commenting on the Asia roadshow, Mr. Peter Wong said, “It is especially meaningful for GTEF to start this year’s roadshow at Beijing, our country’s capital, the partner city of this edition and a prominent consumer market in the world. We are grateful for the tremendous support we received from the CNTA, MGTO and CCT for our Asia roadshow in Beijing, and for the warm response from local tourism stakeholders. We are excited that we will also be sharing the successful partnership stories on our platform with our Shanghai and Guangzhou tourism peers. GTEF is committed to fostering tourism development and cooperation between overseas tourism peers and Chinese provinces and municipalities, and we are confident that together we will do great things for the global tourism industry.
 
GTEF 2016’s Asia Roadshow will continue at four key tourism destinations across East Asia, including Shanghai (August 1), Taipei (August 5), Guangzhou (August 9) and Seoul, Korea (August 11). In addition to creating networking opportunities through luncheons, GTEF aims at recruiting delegates from respective cities to the special anniversary edition in mid-October to explore collaboration possibilities with local tourism sector.
