Galileo International, the subsidiary of Cendant Corporation signed a new agreement with Pan Pacific Hotels, which will see them become a participant in Galileo’s Best Available Rate (BAR) programme. This announcement follows a recent agreement with another Asia Pacific-based chain, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, and clearly positions Galileo as the leading GDS for hotel rate guarantee programmes. These additions bring the total number of participating chains to 87 with over 30,000 hotels.

The Galileo BAR programme enables major hotel chains to provide travel agents with access to the best available published, non-restricted rates offered either online or via the hotel chain’s own reservation line. This programme is exclusive to Galileo-connected travel agents worldwide and provides the reassurance that the rate the agent sees is the best available.

“By adding more content to our BAR programme we are able to offer an unrivalled service to Galileo travel agents at a time when our competitors are just getting off the ground,” said Joe Lim, Business Development Manager – Hotel & Car Service, APAC, Galileo International.

“Our agents can now identify and sell properties with the confidence that they are getting the best rate, addressing the inconsistency of hotel rates across distribution channels and allowing them to save time by only needing to search in one place.”
