EVA, UNI Air launch scheduled flights to China August 31

EVA Air and UNI Air will both begin launching scheduled flights to China on Aug. 31, 2009. The two carriers will serve 12 destinations and fly 19 routes to China’s major cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Kunming, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Dalian, Ningbo, Chengdu and Qingdao. The airlines will add service to Wuhan and Chongqing on Sept. 28, bringing their combined frequency to 55 flights per week.

Passengers can make reservations now through travel agents worldwide, by contacting an EVA office or with a few clicks on the airline’s user-friendly website, www.evaair.com.  In addition to Taoyuan International Airport, business and leisure travelers can also connect to destinations in China from Taipei’s close-in Song Shan International Airport, Taichung International Airport in central Taiwan and Kaohsiung International Airport in southern Taiwan.

EVA and UNI Air are serving China’s major cities with flights to almost every region of the country:

Northern China – Taoyuan to Beijing five times/week, Taoyuan to Tianjin two times/week and Taoyuan to Dalian two times/week.

Eastern China – Taoyuan to Shanghai nine times/week, Kaohsiung to Shanghai two times/week, Taoyuan to Hangzhou seven times/week, Taichung to Hangzhou once a week, Kaohsiung to Hangzhou two times/week, Taoyuan to Ningbo five times/week and Kaohsiung to Ningbo once a week.

The additional service to be introduced at the end of September includes flights from Taoyuan to Wuhen two times/week and Taoyuan to Chongqing two times/week.

Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ninbo, the major cities in the Yangtze River Delta, are only about two hours apart by taxi. The combined total of 27 flights every week gives EVA and UNI Air more frequent service to this bustling area than any other airline. EVA is also the only carrier flying to both Beijing and Tianjin, linked by a 30-minute Intercity Rail ride, and giving travelers another convenient option.

Both EVA and UNI Air passengers traveling to China can plan itineraries to arrive in one city and depart from another within the same region, e.g., northern China, eastern China, central China, southern China, etc. For example, a traveler can fly from Taoyuan to Beijing and depart from Tianjin to either Kaohsiung or Taoyuan.  Or from China, passengers can travel from Shanghai to Taoyuan and return from Kaohsiung to Hangzhou. EVA and UNI Air’s frequent flights to destinations in every region of China give travelers tremendous flexibility in planning their itineraries.

EVA and UNI Air are deploying the aircraft on each of these routes that best meet market and frequency demand, and give travelers the most desirable in-flight environment.  EVA will operate the latest Boeing 777-300ers, Airbus 330-200s and Boeing 747-400s on most of its flights from Taoyuan. UNI Air will use MD-90s for service from Song Shan, Taichung and Kaohsiung.

EVA Cargo will operate Boeing 747-400 freighters between Taoyuan and Shanghai three times a week and is cooperating with Air China Cargo by swapping space. The two carriers will also cooperate on the Taoyuan – Guangzhou route, based on market demand.

In addition to the new scheduled service throughout China, EVA is continuing its long-established flights to Hong Kong and Macau. The Taiwan-based airline links major business and leisure destinations worldwide, including Amsterdam, London, Paris and Vienna in Europe; Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver in North America and Brisbane, Australia in addition to serving more destinations in Asia than any other airline. EVA offers competitive fares and gives travelers the added option of its award-winning Elite Class premium economy in addition to its Premium Laurel Class business cabin with award-winning wines.
