ZHUHAI, China – During the 11th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition, Embraer Commercial Aviation released its 2016-2035 Market Outlook for the Chinese market, which forecasts that the region will take delivery of 1,030 new jets in the 70 to 130+ seat segment over the next 20 years (valued at USD 50 billion at list prices).
“Currently, China is going through a transition from an investment- and export-oriented growth model to consumption-driven, a great sign that would encourage China’s rising middle-class to travel more and eventually benefit the regional aviation industry,” said Guo Qing, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Commercial Aviation, Embraer China.

Raised by the central government, the “Belt and Road Initiatives” continue to be the country’s top priority during the 13th Five-Year Plan; under this framework, new regional airports are planned, and regional airlines are receiving subsidies to launch new short- to medium-haul routes. “All these factors will end up to be strong stimulants to the regional aviation industry and the economy as a whole,” Guo added.
Currently, the existing hubs – Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu – are already saturated and slot constrained. To address this issue, second- and third-tier cities with aviation sources such as Wuhan, Changsha, Xiamen and Xi’an should be developed into “regional hubs” to relieve the capacity pressure of the major hubs and improve connectivity.
To further raise the reliability, efficiency and comfort level of the commercial jets, Embraer is bringing the E-Jets E2 to the market to complement its current E-Jets offering, which has been leading the Chinese regional aviation with more than 80% market share. The company has logged 228 firm orders in China, including 190 commercial aircraft, 21 of which pending for government approval, and 38 executive jets. So far 172 aircraft have been delivered, including 32 executive and 140 commercial jets.
