Business and leisure customers flying on Delta Air Lines can look forward to improved air service opportunities under the new open skies aviation agreement reached between the United States and Indian governments.

Regarding the open skies accord, Delta`s Vice President – International & Alliances, Jorge Fernandez, said, As the largest U.S. carrier serving India, Delta congratulates the U.S. and India governments for negotiating an Open Skies agreement between the two countries. As a long-time supporter of the more than 60 open skies agreements the U.S. government currently has in place, Delta is thrilled with the new agreement and believes this new treaty will increase travel, trade and tourism between the two countries. India continues to take a leadership position in the world`s economy.

Delta currently offers daily New York-Paris-Mumbai and seasonal New York-Frankfurt-Mumbai flights and will start New York-Paris-Chennai (Madras) service May 9, 2005.

Delta is the only U.S. carrier serving two cities in India-Mumbai and Chennai. Expanding international service is a key element of Delta`s transformation plan announced in September, which will provide customers more access to the world.

Delta`s new service to Chennai will feature the Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, featuring Delta`s award-winning BusinessElite(r) service with seats in a 2x2x2 configuration and 60 inches of pitch.
