CHI Ultralounge: Funk Shui Asian lounge culture debuts in the city, taking Bangkok nightlife into a new age

CHI Ultralounge is destined to change the future of Bangkok nightlife; it promises to be a unique nightclub, lounge and restaurant destination brimming with Asian style, cutting edge beats, one-of-a-kind culinary creativity and a chic Asian-mod aesthetic unlike anything that has gone before.

BANGKOK – Bangkok’s Funk Shui nightclub experience, CHI Ultralounge, has landed for an exclusive soft launch phase and the opening of the innovative nightclub’s stunning inner sanctum exclusively for VIP and media VIP guests. The club will officially launch with a grand opening in the first quarter of 2016.

Summoning fantasies of eerily cool Yakuza haunts, beautifully lit archaic casinos in Macao, decadently detailed gold leaf designs and ancient Chinese antique embellishments; welcome to the next phase of Bangkok’s indelible signature on the global entertainment gold list. Under the watchful eye of CHI’s Imperial Dragon, a symbol of protection, affluence and power, Chi guides its guests on a journey into a resolutely Asian experience – a high-kicking Kung Fu fling into the exotic mystique that visitors to Asia demand and expect, and yet have hitherto been underserved in terms of massively absorbing nightlife.

As Thailand’s first world-class Diageo Club, guests can enjoy an exciting array of cocktails concocted by the talents of in-house mixologists selected by nightclub innovator and pioneer, Daryl Scott – a legend on the world clubbing stage with dozens of venue designs and launches to his credit.

Daryl’s vision for CHI centers on Funk Shui, a fun and feisty volley of cohesive yet eclectic elements that walk visitors through heavy swing doors, on interconnected mezzanine gantries, through private VIP bars fit for the heaviest of Mafiosos, as well as insane audio and a domed ceiling 4k video display. Nothing like this existed in Bangkok before, and the wider Asian region can now once again make Bangkok a must-do stopover on the jet-set tour of positively awesome design, décor, service offering and nightlife experiences.

CHI Ultralounge’s soft launch preview phase is the first of many special events to take place up to and beyond its official launch, with a party evening planned to celebrate the opening of the club’s Asian fusion restaurant by Blue Elephant in January.

Daryl Scott, nightclub pioneer and owner of CHI, explains the inspiration: “CHI Ultralounge features an uber-cool Asian motif with one-off metallic design; the Zen cultural stylings of CHI Ultralounge give it an authentic Feng Shui vibe, modified to become our ‘Funk Shui’ mantra. The quirky Chinese dragon design concept, incredible 3D video projections onto the domed ceiling, gold leaf and Zen-inspired DJ booth lend to an international ambience for the iconic club design space that was once the famed Bed Supperclub, home to Bangkok’s dance music scene for many years.”

CHI heralds a massive suite of improvements over the original Bed Supperclub shell; so much so in fact that only the core structure remains. The new venue is bigger, more impressive and safer. Daryl has placed huge emphasis on safety, convenience and swift serviceability; the venue now features six fire escapes, an advanced sprinkler system which covers the walls and ceilings of every part of CHI; electronic bottle service systems enable staff to deliver a superbly tailored guest experience, with on-hand VIP concierge/front-of-house appointments ensuring every guest can enjoy a respectful, safe, service-centric guest experience under the vivid 3D Ultralounge presentations. The finishing touch to the gallery in CHI’s (now) super-spacious Club area is a stunning 7-meter painting commissioned exclusively for CHI Ultralounge by celebrated Dutch artist Peter Klashorst.

CHI Ultra Dining Experience will launch in January 2016 to complete the supper club concept, with an exclusive introduction of “MANNA” Divine Culinary Mash-up designed by the renowned Blue Elephant restaurant group, fronted by executive chef Tony Bish, NYC. Guests can dine in the belly of the imperial dragon, while CHI’s video-animated ceiling captivates gently, before the club really begins to rock from 10:30 pm each evening, until very, very late.

Close to its former Sukhumvit 11 home, CHI Ultralounge launches on the entertainment hotspot of Sukhumvit Soi 13. It is a stunning reinvention of high-end clubbing in Bangkok that will spearhead Bangkok’s drive back to being at the top of global entertainment destinations.

CHI Ultralounge is available every day from 7.00pm to 2.00am.
