Airlines Worldwide rely on FICO predictive analytics to operate more safely, reliably and profitably

The airlines use FICO Xpress to improve operations and deliver safe and reliable transportation to millions of passengers.

SAN JOSE – FICO, a leading predictive analytics and decision management software company, announced that leading airlines worldwide are using FICO(R) Xpress Optimization Suite, the premier mathematical optimization software for modeling and solving massively complex problems. These airlines use FICO Xpress to improve operations and deliver safe and reliable transportation to millions of passengers.

“Today’s airline industry is intensely competitive, fuel prices are high and airlines are operating on razor-thin margins,” said Daniel McConaghy, president for FICO in Asia Pacific. “These challenges require airlines to build efficiency into every part of their operations, and they are increasingly turning to analytics to do this. Airlines are using FICO Xpress Optimization Suite to help make critical decisions around fleet planning and scheduling, maintenance, repair and overhaul, capacity planning, flight planning, crew allocation, price optimization and operational controls.”

“Sometimes the difference between a flight being profitable or losing money comes down to just a couple of unsold seats,” said Ms.Guitao Yu, deputy manager of Information Centre at China Southern Airlines. “As the biggest airline in China, it is essential for us to continue to find ways to optimize our business and use analytics to solve complex problems.”

FICO also works with leading transportation solution providers who use FICO Xpress Optimization Suite as a core part of their offerings such as Constraint Technologies International headquartered in Melbourne, Australia.

“For our airlines customers, including the likes of Malaysian Airlines, it’s critical to generate optimal pairing, rostering and disruption management solutions, solver performance and first-rate support,” said Julian Warner, vice president, Airline Systems, Constraint Technologies. “FICO’s ability to help us deliver tremendous reductions in runtimes allows our customers to generate more solutions in the same timeframe, leading to better decisions. Combine this with their excellent support, and FICO clearly is the provider of choice in our work with airlines around the region.”

FICO has been providing optimization services to airlines across Asia, the Americas and Europe since 2008.
