Asia-Pacific airports are invited to participate in the “Green Airports Award” – a new initiative of the ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Office.
The objective of the Green Airports Award is to promote environmental best practices to minimize aviation’s impact on the environment and to recognize ACI airport members who have outstanding accomplishments in their environmental projects.
ACI Asia-Pacific is pleased to have the following leading experts participating in the Panel of Judges for the 2011 Green Airports Award:
– Mrs. Leonie Dobbie, Head, Sustainable Aviation and Airports, WSP / Administrator of Airport Carbon Accreditation
– Ms. Elizabeth Leavitt, Director, Aviation Planning and Environmental Services, Port of Seattle / Chair of ACI World Environment Standing Committee
– Mr. Gap-Cheol Park, Manager, Environment, Korea Airports Corporation / Chair of ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Environment Liaison Group
– Mr. Xavier Oh, Senior Manager Environment and ICAO Liaison, ACI World
– Regional Director, ACI Asia-Pacific
This award is the first-of-its-kind in the Asia-Pacific region. By participating in this campaign, airports have the opportunity to share their airports’ environmental projects with other airports in the region and also have the chance to be awarded for the outstanding achievements.
In commenting on the new initiative, Mrs. Maggie Kwok, Regional Director, ACI Asia-Pacific said, “Environmental issues are of growing importance around the world and therefore our Regional Office has decided to launch this campaign to promote environmental best practices. One of the ACI missions is to promote professional excellence in airport management and operations. I strongly encourage airports in the region to participate in this campaign and make your projects well-known in the aviation community!”
Award-winning airports will be invited to attend the award presentation ceremony at the 7th ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly in May 2012 in Singapore.
