VietJet and GECAS sign sale leaseback terms for two Airbus aircraft

The two aircraft are part of the fleet order made by VietJet in February this year, for a total of 100 Airbus aircraft to be delivered from 2014 to 2018.

SINGAPORE – VietJet Aviation Joint Stock Company (“VietJet”) and GE Capital Aviation Services (“GECAS) have inked a sale leaseback agreement for two Airbus A320 aircraft.

The two aircraft are part of the fleet order made by VietJet in February this year, for a total of 100 Airbus aircraft to be delivered from 2014 to 2018.

With BNP Paribas acting as the financial advisor to VietJet, this agreement will see Airbus deliver both the aircraft in November and December respectively, enabling the new age carrier to accelerate its expansions plans within the region.

Known to be one of the fastest growing airlines in Asia, VietJet currently operates 21 routes, with an extensive domestic network as well as direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok (Thailand) and Singapore. VietJet has also announced plans to increase daily flights on its international route between Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok effective 12 September 2014.

Recently, the airline also celebrated the launch of direct flights between Vietnam and Seoul, South Korea, marking its first foray into the Korean market. VietJet operates daily flights from Hanoi and Da Nang to Seoul with a flight capacity of 5,040 seats weekly.
