Argyle Hotel Groups commitment to business excellence was recognised at the 2013 AustCham Westpac Australia – China Business Awards. The “2013 Westpac Special Recognition Award”, an award that is unique as Argyle Hotel Group itself was presented by Mrs. Gail Kelly, one of Australia’s most highly respected CEO’s and the Managing Director and CEO of Westpac Group to AHG’s CEO, Mr. Kevin Zhang.
The awards, launched in 1993 by the China – Australia Chamber of Commerce, (AustCham), celebrate the diversity of Australian business interests throughout Greater China and recognise business excellence. This particular award was specifically tailor-made for Argyle Hotel Group in recognition of their commitment to innovation and the success of the business over the past eight years. Over 300 people attended the Gala Awards Ceremony.
“We have set ourselves some very ambitious goals; with tenacity, innovation and perseverance we are starting to see the fruits of our labour. It is humbling to be honoured with such an award from our peers,” said Mr. Kevin Zhang, Chief Executive Officer of Argyle Hotel Group (China).
“As Australian business leaders, we have a remarkable connection with Asia, and opportunity to be part of the Asian century,” said Mrs. Gail Kelly, CEO of Westpac Group, which co-sponsored the awards with the Australian Chambers of Commerce in Greater China.
Argyle Hotel Group has had continued strong growth and expansion throughout China with up to 40 hotels, 11 of which are now fully operational and US$ 2.8 billion of assets now under management. The group has shown great initiative in expanding its business frontier throughout greater China with many of the developments in second, third and fourth tier cities. China is the world’s fastest growing domestic and outbound travel market.
