BEIJING, CHINA – The 28th National Winter Swimming Championships wrapped up on November 10 at Jingpo Lake Scenic Area in Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province, underscoring the role of sporting events in strengthening China‘s snow and ice tourism market. This year’s championships attracted nearly 700 winter swimming enthusiasts from across the nation who braved icy waters to compete in a captivating display of resilience, skill, and camaraderie.

Bao Rongqing, who led a team of 11 swimmers from Xinjiang, expressed admiration for the picturesque setting. Bao shared that all 11 members from their team were visiting Jingpo Lake for the first time and were amazed by its natural beauty.
Jingpo Lake has steadily emerged as a sought-after winter tourism destination by capitalizing on its geographic and climatic advantages. In addition to hosting winter swimming, the scenic area regularly organizes events such as roller skating competitions, ice marathons, and ice Dragon Boat races. Recognized as a national sports tourism demonstration base in 2022 by the General Administration of Sport and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the lake continues to reinforce its reputation for sports-driven tourism.
