Travel to Laos, Iceland, France is also recommended to be avoided due to the very high level of COVID-19.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued yesterday (Monday 9th August) a Level 4 Travel Health Notice for Thailand due to COVID-19, indicating a very high level of COVID-19 in the country. The CDC mentions that the risk of contracting COVID-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if travellers are fully vaccinated with an FDA authorized vaccine.

Although Thailand is not the only country that its travel advisory raised to Level 4 yesterday. Travel to Laos, Iceland, France is also recommended to be avoided due to the very high level of COVID-19. These four countries were added to the 96 countries in total that US CDC advises US travellers to avoid travel.

Reconsider travel to Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat, and Songkhla provinces due to civil unrest

The US Travel Advisory also mentions that periodic violence directed mostly at Thai government interests by a domestic insurgency continues to affect security in the southernmost provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat, and Songkhla. U.S. citizens are at risk of death or injury due to the possibility of indiscriminate attacks in public places. Martial law is in force in this region.

The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in these provinces as U.S government employees must obtain special authorization to travel to these provinces.
