Booking.com unveils Phang Nga as the most welcoming destination in Thailand based on reviews from travelers all over the world

Phang Nga ranked as the most welcoming destination in Thailand, followed by Krabi, Trat, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai respectively.

BANGKOK- As travel continues to make its return, the eleventh annual Booking.com Traveller Review Awards recognize travel providers from across 220 countries for their commitment to providing consistently excellent service over the year. Based on a pool of over 240 million verified customer reviews on Booking.com, a total of 12,445 properties in Thailand are being recognized for their hospitality with 8.6 average review score. When it came down to the details of the reviews, global travelers prioritized staff, followed by the location and cleanliness of the accommodations they stayed in.

Most Welcoming Destinations in Thailand for 2023

Coastal gems, and local destinations surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty and mountainous landscapes, continue to top the list of ‘Most Welcoming Destinations’ in Thailand*, which is based on the share of properties across the country receiving a Traveller Review Award 2023.

Unique stay still on the global preferable list

As the most-awarded property type globally, apartments take the top spot for the sixth year in a row, with a grand total of 629,421 partners being recognized with Traveller Review Awards 2023. While in Thailand, hotels continue to be awarded as the most popular accommodation type in the market, with 3,559 hotels and 2,192 resorts, followed by other unique places to stay including apartments (1,614), guest houses (1,264) receiving a 2023 award.

Seeking for more sustainable traveler experience

Nearly one in ten accommodation award recipients globally (122,095) have also been recognized with a Travel Sustainable badge for their efforts to operate more sustainably. In fact, Travel Sustainable accommodations were three times more likely to receive a Traveller Review Award 2023, compared to those not being recognized with a Travel Sustainable badge.

Τransport providers contribute to seamless journey

This is the fourth year that Booking.com is recognising in-trip transport providers for their consistently great service, with 230 car rental companies from across 150 countries picking up a Traveller Review Award 2023.
