Independence and industry perspectives to drive ATDW’s future

The Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) is a central content and distribution platform for the Australian tourism industry. The database is made up of over 33,000 tourism product listings.

SYDNEY – Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) and its owners, Tourism Australia and all the State and Territory government tourism organisations announce the appointment of a new board of directors.

“This change in ATDW’s governance, reflects our owners’ desire to comprehensively review ATDW’s achievements and strengths, how it benefits the industry and how it can provide the best possible services in the future,” said Liz Ward, CEO of ATDW.

“Despite the continuing changes in distribution and communications technologies, we are keen to see ATDW remain relevant and valuable to the industry. Our new board is aiming to ensure ATDW provides a first class national database that supports industry’s efforts to grow their businesses and the economies of Australian destinations, now and into the future,” continued Ward.

As part of the transition to our new board of directors, Paul Scurrah was appointed as ATDW’s first independent Chairman.  Paul has an impressive resume with more than 20 years experience in travel, tourism, transportation and customer service,  having held senior leadership roles in various commercial and tourism organisations in Australia including, Qantas, American Express, Ansett, Tourism Queensland and Flight Centre, as well as being a  board member of AFTA – the Australian Federation of Travel Agents.

Paul’s most recent role was Executive Vice President Commercial & Marketing of Aurizon (Queensland Rail National) and later this year, Paul will take up the position of CEO at DP World, Australia’s largest port operator and cruise terminal management company.

“We are very pleased to welcome Paul on board and are delighted with the valuable commercial and industry perspectives that Paul is well positioned to contribute to our forward strategy,” Ward added.

The directors who will support Paul Scurrah include:
John Fitzgerald, CEO of Tourism Tasmania
Leigh Harry, CEO of Tourism Victoria
Tony Mayell, CEO of Tourism Northern Territory
Nell Anderson, General Manager, Tourism Australia

“We would like to thank our previous board of directors, the members of which have provided quality leadership and advice throughout their tenure and under whose direction ATDW has achieved excellent outcomes,” said Ward.
