Australia’s Business Events Sydney (BESydney) is pleased to announce the opening of a dedicated, full service office in North America. BESydney, formerly known as the Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau (SCVB), is the organisation responsible for promoting Sydney as a business events destination, identifying new event opportunities and bringing these events to Sydney.
Headed by Patty Buehler, the new office is dedicated to assisting and supporting current and potential clients in the North American business events market who are considering, or could be considering, Sydney as a destination for their business event.
“North America is a priority market for Business Events Sydney, and we are delighted to expand our resources and reach with the opening of a dedicated office in Montreal. With many airlines travelling to and from Sydney, such as Qantas, and now Delta Airlines and V Australia, as well as lower airfares, there are more opportunities to cater for this market,” said Mr Jon Hutchison, Chief Executive Officer of BESydney.
Business Development Director for North America, Ms Buehler is available at the new office to answer questions about the destination for those planning a conference, meeting or employee recognition program.
Over the next few months, Ms Buehler will also be attending Meeting Professionals International (MPI) World Educational Conference, PCMA (International Forum) and ASAE (American Society of Association Executives) to meet with organisations and individuals considering Sydney, Australia for an event.
“Sydney is the number one Australian destination for the North American business events market, and I am very excited about meeting with clients here to discuss how Business Events Sydney can support the planning of their event,” said Ms Buehler.
Sydney was also recently named the top city in Australia for business events, according to the International Congress and Convention Association’s (ICCA) city and country rankings 2008.
Patty Buehler has ten years of experience in the hotel industry and comes to BESydney from the Canadian Convention Center, where she was responsible for developing the international conference Market World Wide.
“We’re delighted to have Patty on-board. With her experience and expertise, she has great insights into association and corporate organisations allowing her to quickly interpret the needs of clients and offer the right solutions,” said Mr Hutchison.
With headquarters in Sydney Australia, BESydney also has international offices in Hong Kong and London.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Tourism Business Administration from the Technical University of Athens and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wales.
