For the 13th time already, CTW Awards were given during a presentation to the selected winners, some of whom had travelled a long way to Beijing especially for the CTW Award ceremony.
Coach companies, skiing resorts, safari organisers and even a football club were among the award winners of the 2016 edition of the CTW Chinese Tourist Welcome Awards 2016.
China is the biggest outbound tourism source market in the world with more than 195 billion US$ spent by 133 million travellers in 2015. How to attract this major market segment and how to turn Chinese visitors into satisfied customers who recommend destinations and tourism service providers to their friends and colleagues? COTRI China Outbound Tourism Research Institute presented 17 answers to this important question in the form of 18 CTW Chinese Tourist Welcome Awards.
For the 13th time already, CTW Awards were given during a presentation to the selected winners, some of whom had travelled a long way to Beijing especially for the CTW Award ceremony. The international jury in 2016 had to evaluate more applications than ever before. The selected gold, silver and bronze CTW Awards were given to private companies and governmental institutions from all continents and from many different segments of the industry.
As every year, CTW Awards were given in five categories: Product Innovation, Internet/Media, Service Quality, Marketing and Overall Performance.
“Manchester City is the first football club among the CTW award receivers since it started in 2004 at ITB Berlin. Their special offers for Chinese visitors certainly differ from the homestay products with rural Bangladeshi families or the jointly developed itineraries of the China-CEEC project in Eastern and Central Europe. However, all of them together reflect the variety of different parts of the Chinese outbound market.” said Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt, director of COTRI, who chaired the CTW Award ceremony. 2016 saw the CTW Award ceremony held at the COTTM fair in Beijing for the last time. From next year the new ITB China in Shanghai will be the new home of the CTW Award.
COTRI China Outbound Tourism Research Institute is the world’s leading independent research institute for information, training, quality assessment, research, and consulting relating to the Chinese outbound tourism market.
